Facial PRP Pre-Treatment Instructions

What do know before your Platelet Rich Plasma appointment

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to your Facial PRP treatment as alcohol may thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications and supplements if possible for 2 weeks before your treatment. Medications and supplements such as NSAIDs like Advil® (Ibuprofen), aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling after your Facial PRP injections.

  • Avoid smoking 3 days prior to your treatment.

  • Discontinue Retinol, topical Vitamin A, and tretinoin at least 3 days before your treatment.

  • The day before your treatment, drink extra water.

  • If applicable shave your facial hair at least 24 hours before your treatment.

  • Avoid fatty foods at least 8 hours before your blood is drawn for the best quality of plasma. Fatty foods meaning saturated fats specifically.

  • The day of your treatment, it is best to eat a healthy meal prior and drink plenty of water.
