Neuromodulator Pre-Treatment Instructions

What to know before your Botox appointment

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to your treatment as alcohol may thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications & supplements if possible for 2 weeks before your treatment. Medications and supplements such as NSAIDs like Advil (Ibuprofen), aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling after your injections.

  • Be sure to schedule your neurotoxin appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event or a vacation. Results from your Botox injections will take up to 14 days to appear. Post treatment bruising and swelling may be visible in that time period.

  • Discontinue Retinol, topical Vitamin A, and tretinoin at least 2 days before and 2 days following your treatment.

  • If you have a rash, cold sore or blemish to the area being treated you will need to reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

  • If you have had a viral illness, are taking antibiotics, or have had dental procedures (of any kind) in the previous two weeks you will need to reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

  • To avoid the chance of feeling light-headed during your treatment, be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure.
