PRP Hair Restoration Pre-Treatment Instructions

What to know before you PRP injection for hair loss

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to your PRP Hair Restoration treatment as alcohol may thin the blood and increase your risk of bruising.

Medications and supplements such as NSAIDs like Advil® (Ibuprofen), aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling after your injections.

  • Avoid or at least minimize smoking 3 days prior to your PRP Hair Restoration treatment.

  • The day before your treatment, drink extra water.

  • Avoid fatty foods at least 8 hours before your blood is drawn for the best quality of plasma. Fatty foods meaning saturated fats specifically.

  • The morning of your PRP Hair Restoration treatment make sure to wash your hair very thoroughly using your regular shampoo.

  • Do not apply any sprays, gels or any other styling products to your hair.

  • To avoid the chance of feeling light-headed during your treatment, be sure to have a healthy meal, with extra fluids before your PRP Hair Restoration procedure.
