Micro-needling & PRP Post-Treatment Instructions

What do avoid after your PRP Vampire Facial

  • ​For the first 24-48 hours (or longer) after your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma, you can expect redness, bruising, and swelling.

  • Taking Arnica Montana tablets and consuming food containing bromelain, such as pineapple, after your PRP facial treatment may reduce bruising and swelling.

  • Do not wash your face for at least 4 hours after your microneedling treatment. If  you had a vampire facial microneedling treatment, allow the platelet-rich plasma to remain on your skin.

  • You may rinse your face with lukewarm water the next day if you had platelet-rich plasma with your microneedling treatment and but be sure to avoid using any harsh cleansers with that could irritate your skin.

  • Apply a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB, SPF 25 or greater sunscreen to your skin ever 2-3 hours to prevent post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Avoid being outdoors as much as possible. Be sure to wear sunglasses, cover up with a hat, and put your visor down when in the car.

  • For the next 72 hours after your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment, limit exposure to sun and heat. Other activities that generate heat your skin include tanning beds, steam rooms, and saunas. 

  • For 72 hours avoid strenuous exercise treatment or any activity that could generate heat, such as hot yoga.

  • For at least 72 hours following your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma do not use any makeup or exfoliating agents on your skin.

  • For two weeks following your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment avoid facials, laser treatments or active skincare ingredients, such as retinol and vitamin c that may cause damage or peeling.

  • Avoid smoking for at least 3 days after your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment. 

  • Avoid consuming alcohol and the following medications/supplements for at least 72 hours after your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma: Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen (Aleve®), acetylsalicylic acid  (Aspirin®), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling during your microneedling treatment.

  • Use acetaminophen (Tylenol®) as directed on the label for discomfort after your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment.

  • Avoid consuming excess amounts of salts to prevent excessive swelling.

  • It's best to sleep on your back (face up) and with your head elevated to reduce post treatment swelling. 

  • ​You may continue to see improvement in your skin for 6 months or more after your treatment.
