Dermal Filler Post-Treatment Instructions
What do avoid after your dermal filler injection

Avoid massaging the area treated with dermal filler for the first 72 hours.

For 72 hours avoid strenuous exercise after your dermal filler treatment.

Avoid any heat generating activities, such as hot yoga, saunas, jacuzzis, & tanning beds for 14 days

Limit your exposure to sun and heat and extreme cold for the first 72 hours after your dermal filler treatment.

Avoid smoking for at least 3 days after your dermal filler treatment.

Avoid Retinol, topical Vitamin A, and tretinoin for at least 7 days following your dermal filler treatment.

Avoid consuming alcohol and the following medications/supplements for at least 72 hours after your dermal filler treatment: Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen (Aleve®), acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin®), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling from your dermal filler treatment.

Use acetaminophen (Tylenol®) as directed on the label for discomfort after your dermal filler treatment. Avoid consuming excess amounts of salts to prevent excessive swelling.

It's best to sleep on your back (face up) and with your head elevated to reduce post treatment swelling.

To help manage post treatment swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour as needed.

Taking Arnica Montana tablets and consuming food containing bromelain, such as pineapple, after your dermal filler treatment may reduce bruising and swelling.
