
BOTOX COSMETIC® Pre-Treatment Instructions
What to know before your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® appointment

Do not consume alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to your BOTOX COSMETIC® treatment as alcohol may thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising

Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications & supplements for 1-2 weeks before your BOTOX COSMETIC® treatment. Medications and supplements such as NSAIDs like Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen (Aleve®), acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin®), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling after your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® injections.

Be sure to schedule your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event or a vacation. Results from your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® injections will take up to 14 days to appear. Post treatment bruising and swelling may be visible in that time period.

Discontinue Retinol, topical Vitamin A, and tretinoin at least 2 days before and 2 days following your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® treatment.

If you have a rash, cold sore or blemish to the area being treated you will need to reschedule your BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport® appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

If you have a viral illness, are taking antibiotics, have had a vaccine or have had dental procedures (of any kind) in the previous two weeks you will need to reschedule your BOTOX COSMETIC® BOTOX COSMETIC® or Dysport ® appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

To avoid the chance of feeling light-headed during your treatment, be sure to have a good breakfast (or lunch), including food and drink.
