Preparing for Your Neuromodulator Appointment

At Touch of Beauty, your safety, comfort, and understanding of your treatment are priorities. Before receiving a neuromodulator injection (such as botulinum toxin), it’s important to be prepared and informed about what to expect and how to optimize your appointment.

Consultation & Safety Review

Before any treatment, a consultation is completed to review your medical history, discuss your goals and concerns, assess suitability, and address any questions. This includes discussing potential risks, expected experiences, and any precautions that may apply based on your individual profile.

Neuromodulator treatments involve the controlled act of administering a substance by injection. Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) providing this service work with appropriate medical direction and have the required authorization to perform injections.

Before Your Appointment

To help support a safe procedure and reduce the chance of temporary reactions (such as bruising at the injection site):

  • Hydration & Nutrition: Ensure you are well-hydrated and have eaten before your appointment to support comfort.

  • Medications & Supplements: If you take medications or supplements that affect blood clotting (e.g., NSAIDs, certain vitamins, herbal supplements), discuss these with your clinician during your consultation so they can advise you appropriately.

  • Skin Condition: If you have a rash, irritation, or active skin issue near the treatment area, notify us in advance so your nurse can assess whether it’s appropriate to proceed at this time.

  • Illness & Recent Procedures: If you have had a recent illness, infection, vaccine, dental work, or are taking antibiotics, please let us know as this may affect timing of treatment.

Your nurse will review any necessary rescheduling considerations with you during the consultation.

Expectations on the Day of Treatment

When you arrive for your appointment:

  • Your clinician will verify your health history and confirm that treatment remains appropriate.

  • The treatment area will be cleansed, and topical measures to support comfort may be offered if appropriate.

  • Injections will be guided by professional assessment and tailored to your individual plan.

After treatment, your nurse will provide guidance on what to expect immediately following the procedure and how to care for the area.

Planning Around Special Events

If you have an important event or travel planned, discuss your timing during your consultation. Treatment responses can vary among individuals, and planning ahead allows us to support you in choosing an appointment time that fits your schedule and expectations.

Safety & Eligibility

Not all individuals are suitable candidates for neuromodulator treatments. Certain medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, or breastfeeding may affect eligibility. Your nurse will assess this and discuss any relevant safety considerations during your consultation.
