Micro-needling &
Platelet-Rich Plasma
Pre-Treatment Instructions

Microneedling + PRP = Vampire Facial

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 72 hours prior to your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment, as alcohol thins your blood and increases your risk of bruising.

  • If you're prone to cold sores, take an antiviral agent for 2 days prior to and on the day of your microneedling & PRP treatment.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications & supplements for 2 weeks before your  Microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment. Medications and supplements include NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen (Aleve®), (Aspirin®), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling from your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment.

  • Avoid smoking 3 days prior to your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment.

  • Discontinue Retinol, topical Vitamin A, and tretinoin 7 days before your treatment.

  • If you have dense facial hair in the area being treated, shave the day before  your microneedling & platelet-rich plasma treatment.

  • The day before your treatment, drink extra water.

  • Avoid fatty foods at least 8 hours before your blood is drawn for the best quality of platelet-rich plasma. Fatty foods meaning saturated fats specifically.

  • The day of your treatment, it is best to eat a healthy meal prior and drink plenty of water.
