Preparing for Your Neuromodulator Appointment

At Touch of Beauty, your safety, comfort, and understanding of your treatment are priorities. Before receiving a neuromodulator injection, it’s important to be prepared and informed about what to expect before, during and after your appointment.

Consultation & Safety Review

Neuromodulator treatments involve the controlled act of administering a substance by injection. Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) providing this service require appropriate authorization and must perform the procedure within their scope of practice and in accordance with applicable College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

Before Your Appointment

To help you prepare for your appointment and minimize avoidable treatment-area reactions, please review the following:

  • Hydration & Nutrition: Ensure you are well-hydrated and have eaten before your appointment to support comfort.

  • Medications & Supplements: If you take medications or supplements that may affect bleeding or bruising, please discuss these with your clinician before treatment. Do not stop or change any prescribed medication unless instructed to do so by the healthcare professional who prescribed it.

  • Skin Condition: If you have a rash, irritation, or active skin issue near the treatment area, notify us in advance so your nurse can assess whether it’s appropriate to proceed at this time.

  • Illness & Recent Procedures: If you have a current or recent illness or infection, are taking antibiotics, or have had a recent medical or dental procedure that may be relevant to treatment, please let us know before your appointment.

Your nurse will review any necessary rescheduling considerations with you during the consultation.

Expectations on the Day of Treatment

When you arrive for your appointment:

  • Your clinician will verify your health history and confirm that treatment remains appropriate.

  • The treatment area will be cleansed and prepared prior to injection.

  • Injections will be administered according to your individualized treatment plan, based on clinical assessment, facial anatomy and treatment goals.

After treatment, your nurse will provide guidance on what to expect immediately following the procedure and how to care for the area.

Planning Around Special Events

If you have an important event or travel planned, discuss the timing with your nurse before treatment. Individual responses and the time needed for treatment effects to develop can vary, and temporary treatment-area reactions such as redness, swelling or bruising may occur. Planning ahead allows appropriate time between your treatment and important events.

Safety & Eligibility

Not all individuals are suitable candidates for neuromodulator treatments. Certain medical conditions, medications and other health factors may affect treatment eligibility. Neuromodulator treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your nurse will review your health history and discuss any relevant considerations during your consultation.

Our Clinical Approach
