Preparing for Your Dermal Filler Treatment

At Touch of Beauty, your comfort, understanding and informed decision-making are priorities. Before receiving dermal filler treatment, it’s important to understand what to expect and how to prepare for your appointment.

Consultation & Safety Review

Prior to any dermal filler treatment, a consultation is required. During this visit, your nurse will:

  • Review your medical history and current medications

  • Discuss your aesthetic concerns and treatment goals

  • Assess your facial anatomy and areas you would like to address

  • Explain treatment options, alternatives, and any relevant precautions

  • Review potential risks, after-care guidance, and expected experiences

This consultation helps determine whether dermal filler treatment is appropriate based on your individual assessment, health history and treatment goals

Before Your Appointment

To help you prepare for your appointment and minimize avoidable treatment-area reactions, please review the following:

  • Hydration & Nutrition: Ensure you are well-hydrated and have eaten prior to your appointment.

  • Blood-Thinning Medications & Supplements: If you take medications or supplements that may affect bleeding or bruising, please discuss these with your nurse before treatment. Do not stop or change any prescribed medication unless instructed to do so by the healthcare professional who prescribed it.

  • Skin Condition: If you have irritation, rash, cold sores, or an active skin condition near proposed treatment areas, inform us in advance so your nurse can assess whether the appointment should proceed.

  • Illness or Recent Procedures: Notify the clinic if you have a current or recent illness or infection, are taking antibiotics, or have recently undergone dental or medical procedures. Your nurse will review this information to determine whether any changes to the timing of your treatment should be considered.

On the Day of Treatment

When you arrive:

  • Your nurse will review the treatment plan with you, answer any questions and confirm your understanding before proceeding.

  • The treatment area will be cleansed and prepared prior to injection using appropriate infection-prevention practices.

  • Topical measures to support comfort may be offered when appropriate.

  • Injections will be administered according to your individualized treatment plan, based on clinical assessment, facial anatomy and treatment goals.

Your nurse will take time to ensure you are informed about each step and comfortable with the plan before proceeding.

Planning Around Events & Scheduling

If you have an important event or travel scheduled, it’s helpful to discuss timing during your consultation. Individuals may respond differently to treatments, and planning ahead allows us to support you in choosing an appointment that fits your schedule and expectations.

Safety & Eligibility

Not all individuals are suitable candidates for dermal filler treatment. Certain medical conditions, medications, allergies, active infections and other health factors may affect treatment eligibility.

Dermal filler treatment is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to limited safety data. Your nurse will review your health history and discuss any relevant considerations during your consultation.

Our Clinical Approach

At Touch of Beauty, dermal filler treatment is guided by individual clinical assessment, professional nursing judgment and informed decision-making. Treatment recommendations take into consideration your health history, facial anatomy, treatment goals and relevant clinical considerations.
