BELKYRA® Lipolysis
Pre-Treatment Instructions
What to know before your fat loss treatment
-
Do not consume alcoholic beverages for at least 72 hours prior to your BELKYRA® treatment as alcohol may thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising.
-
Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications & supplements 2 weeks before your BELKYRA® treatment. Medications and supplements such as NSAIDs like Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen(Aleve®), acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin®), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling from your BELKYRA® treatment.
-
Avoid smoking for 3 days before your BELKYRA® treatment.
-
Some patients find Arnica Montana tablets helpful to take for 3-5 days before and after BELKYRA® treatment to minimize bruising. Food containing bromelain, such as pineapple, may also help minimize bruising & swelling when consumed for 5-7 days before and after treatment.
-
If you have dense facial hair in the area being treated, shave the day before your BELKYRA® treatment.
-
Be sure to schedule your BELKYRA® appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event or a vacation. Post treatment bruising and swelling may be visible for 5-7 days after (or longer).
-
If you have had a viral illness, infection (such as a UTI), are taking antibiotics, or have had dental procedures (of any kind) in the previous two weeks you will need to reschedule your dermal filler appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
-
If you have a rash, skin infection, blemish to the area being treated you will need to reschedule your Belkyra™ appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
-
To avoid the chance of feeling light-headed during your dermal filler treatment, be sure to have a good breakfast (or lunch), including food and drink.
