Facial PRP Post-Treatment Instructions
What to avoid after your Platelet-Rich-Plasma appointment

For at least 4 hours after your Facial PRP allow the PRP to remain on your skin.

You may rinse your face with lukewarm water and but be sure to avoid using any cleansers with that could irritate your skin.

For 72 hours avoid strenuous exercise treatment.

Avoid smoking for at least 3 days after your PRP facial treatment.

Avoid consuming alcohol and the following medications/supplements for at least 72 hours after your dermal filler treatment: Ibuprofen (Advil®), Naproxen (Aleve®), (Aspirin®), acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin), vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, and Turmeric supplements. These all have a blood thinning effect and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling from your dermal filler treatment.

Use acetaminophen (Tylenol®) as directed on the label for discomfort after your PRP facial treatment.

Avoid consuming excess amounts of salts to prevent excessive swelling.

It's best to sleep on your back (face up) and with your head elevated to reduce post treatment swelling.

To help manage post treatment swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour as needed.

Taking Arnica Montana tablets and consuming food containing bromelain, such as pineapple, after your PRP facial treatment may reduce bruising and swelling.

For the first 24-48 hours (or longer) after your facial PRP, you can expect redness, bruising, and swelling.

For at least 72 hours following your Facial PRP do not use any makeup or exfoliating agents on your skin.

For the next 72 hours after your facial PRP treatment, limit exposure to sun and heat. Other activities that heat your skin include tanning beds, steam rooms, and saunas.

Apply a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB, SPF 25 or greater sunscreen to your daily skincare routine to prevent post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

For two weeks following your Facial PRP avoid facials, laser treatments or active skincare ingredients, such as retinol and vitamin c that may cause damage or peeling.

You may continue to see improvement in your skin for 6 months or more after your treatment. The effects of the treatment may last approximately 10-12 months. Patients will notice a rejuvenated glow, a decrease in pigmentation & discoloration, and scars start to diminish.
